Summer Weekends Past

This past weekend my brother John and his family came up to visit me and my folks, and also for our family's annual summer picnic. We were all at my parents' house the day before and it was hot hot hot, so we walked over to the local town park, and got Loki to go swimming for the first time. (oh yeah, and he came with us to my parents' house, too, that's news by itself!) It turns out that it isn't hard to get Loki to go swimming: first you throw the stick out into the water; then, he goes bounding in after in; then, he realizes he better start paddling! He liked it, though, so we'll have to find a place for him to swim next time we go camping somewhere.



OK, so Sunday was the family gathering, up in Hagersville, Ontario this year. This was at my uncle's new house, in a pretty little retirement enclave that has (for now) a huge hayfield out back where the kids all played among the bales.
